Northwest Product Stewardship Council

The Northwest Product Stewardship Council is an affiliation of government agencies at the city, county and state level in Oregon and Washington. Established in 1998, its mission is to integrate the principles of product stewardship into the policy and economic structures of the Pacific Northwest.

David Stitzhal has served for over fifteen years as coordinator of the Northwest Product Stewardship Council. David sat on the founding steering committee and is credited with naming the council and crafting its original mission statement. (Numerous other product stewardship councils have since emerged across the United States.)

In his long-term role, Stitzhal provided design and facilitation of monthly steering committee meetings and was called upon to provide staffing, research and policy support for numerous subcommittees, including product-specific subcommittees on batteries, mercury, paint, electronics, and pharmaceuticals.
