City of Issaquah

In a demonstration of national leadership, the City of Issaquah has implemented an ordinance requiring all food service establishments to compost foodwaste generated in the “back of the house” as well as on the customer side. All such businesses are also required to offer only compostable or recyclable service ware. Full Circle was hired to work with non-complying businesses to identify barriers, build relationships and support movement toward participation. Together with subcontractor KTA Consulting, Full Circle’s actions resulted in much improved compliance and substantially increased diversion of foodwaste. We were also able to provide actionable policy information directly to City Council.
