A Few Projects We’re Excited About
Plastic Packaging Management Study
At the direction of the Washington State Legislature and the Department of Ecology, Full Circle and Cascadia Consulting studied the presence of plastic packaging in Washington’s waste stream, analyzed the existing infrastructure for plastic processing, and identified options to reduce plastic packaging in the state. Full Circle designed and led the stakeholder process to illuminate key parties’ input regarding the future of plastics in Washington.
Commercial Recycling Outreach & Technical Assistance
Full Circle provides recycling outreach and technical assistance to businesses and other organizations on behalf of the cities of Seattle, Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Redmond, Renton, and other municipalities in the region. Since the firm launched in 1993, Full Circle has helped thousands of businesses improve their recycling and composting practices to achieve measurable waste diversion; a number of these businesses have won awards for their improved practices.
Whether assisting shopping malls, high-rise office buildings, restaurants, stand-alone family businesses, hotels, manufacturing facilities, or multifamily residences, Full Circle builds quick rapport and offers creative yet practical solutions. Full Circle also bolsters cities’ recycling education programs by supporting the development of newsletters, graphic materials, and videos; conducting waste characterization studies; and employing Community-Based Social Marketing strategies to engage businesses and change behavior.
Preventing Clothing Waste (King County)
Full Circle was hired by Seattle Public Utilities and the King County Link-Up Program to explore the multi-faceted issue of clothing waste by identifying industry leaders and illuminating successes and challenges within existing programs. Our staff conducted interviews with key international stakeholders to compile and analyze a variety of program approaches, ranging from repair and upcycling to the rental, leasing, and organized swapping of clothes.
